Do you wear your own creations? Are people in Riga eager to buy small designer clothes? I do not wear my own clothes so much, but I do wear pieces from my friends at the university. They are also wearing mine. Recently people have started to buy more from small designers but I do not believe it will become hugely popular in immediate future - it will remain a luxury.

Too bad you were my boyfriend
Are people passionate about fashion in Latvia? Yes passion is clearly here - I have noticed majority of people have thought what they wear when they leave home. Even if it’s just to buy milk they have an outfit for that. Latvians definitely have a fashion gene - a simple T-shirt and jeans is worn with individual style.

How would you describe your look for the new season? My new season look is based on smoky colors: deep and elegant tones. It is about feeling warm and having harmony in- side. The materials are natural and soft: mohair and velvet. Outfit is the mirror of personality. It is not so much about adopting style it is about inner style. Sometimes that special piece of clothing is already in store.

Private detective
Where do you get your inspiration from? This time it was film noir, private detectives and Japanese hairstyle. We are inspired by a second of a moment; it can actually be whatever... You see something that is not even beautiful and you can be full of ideas. We like strong characters and personalities; sometimes they are good, quite often also bad.

Office before work
What’s the key to a perfect outfit? When you see somebody on the street, it is not so much about the current fashion it is about how comfortable a person feels. When somebody is feeling good, you see it immediately. If you feel good inside, you will feel it in any dress. It’s being confident what you wear.

You can be whatever you want
When you walk on the street do you see many people with their own distinctive style? I do have to say no because people are all looking good, but in many cases personalities are missing. I see only some artists who have their own distinctive style. We can see many different styles but they are too simple for me. I hope to see more people who express themselves through interesting clothes.

Are people nowadays expressing themselves through clothes? Definitely. But it could be done in a more interesting and creative way. We need bigger diversity: more variations of styles. Many people think if they are expensively dressed they already have style. That is not true. Speak fashion through your own state of mind.

Move!
How much has street fashion changed over the past years in Riga? A lot. Everyone has become more free to express their attitude. They way we think is the way we dress. In past it was a lot more difficult. We are seeing more and more creativity on streets of Riga. I wish to see even more.

What are this seasons’ must have items in your opinion? I would say coming season is about higher than knees long socks, short boots, very big brooches on coats, big scarves, the ones that go around the head many times, skinny trousers and jeans, puffy coats, tailored trench coats, big boots for guys. Trousers are worn inside the boot. Finally bright gloves are a hit this season.

Does age matter in personal style? Yes of course. It is important to choose your style and outfits keeping in mind how old you are. But if it feels good then age looses its importance a bit. First is to feel good. Of course mature people should not only wear black but I would not go totally pink as well. People should express their age.
