The competition for young and talented fashion artists and designers “FIP New Cut: Recycled Fashion,” organized with an aim to promote development of green thinking and lifestyle in Latvia, which has become a tradition already, was announced during November 2009. More than 30 creative applications were received.
The “FIP New Cut” is not just another competition. It is a story on popularization of the green lifestyle as well as bringing the Latvia fashion into the limelight. Basic idea of the competition merges aphenomenon of positive life perception and becoming a fashion.
The professional and widely recognized jury was invited to evaluate applications and submitted artworks. The jury was led by the well-known fashion artist Ingrīda Drāzniece. There are well known people as Bruno Birmanis; Lotte Tisenkopfa, a co-developer and co-owner of the eco-cosmetics enterprise „Madara Cosmetics”; Keta Gūtmane, a fashion artist and winner of the FIP short movies contest; Jānis Deinats, a photographer; Mari Martin an author of the „ReUse RePublic” idea from Estonia, as well as Guntra Lipska, the iniciator of the idea in Latvia, a representative of the shopping center „Domina Shopping.”

The competition offers a possibility for fashion artists, who are already known, to show their talent, while opening up new and novel possibilities for young artists. Some of them will receive financial awards, but some – will gain fame. The jury will decide on granting a special financial award in amount of 1000 EUR.
We will be able to see first items at the shopping center „Domina Shopping” quite soon. However, after the “FIP New Cut” spring collection will be shown on a special fashion display, anyone will be able to see the collection or even to purchase it at the „Domina Shopping” for very attractive prices from the beginning of April. It is a good chance to invest your contribution into promoting green ideas, Latvia’s design, products and nature. As Ingrida Drāzniece, the chairperson of the „FIP New Cut” jury said that „The green fashion is fashionable in Latvia” and it definitely will stay fashionable in a future as well!
